Running Fence

In class we watched a movie about Christo and Jeanne-Claude building a Running Fence through the west coast in Sonoma and Marin County. What I loved about this film was how we got to watch the whole process and realizing in the end that when the fence was eventually up it was a saddening moment because the whole piece was over. The true art behind this film was the process, the friendships, and the fight to have the fence put up. But, what was the true meaning behind this Running Fence? Possibly to attract people to the west coast farming land, or have an environmental statement.
